VirtuHall^® is based on an license for a patent for an innovative method of sensor-less control of BLDC and PMS motors. The method allows determining the position of the rotor without additional components.

In comparison to the common sensor-less methods this method allows the function of the motor in the whole revolutions per minute (rpm) range beginning with an rpm of zero. ELMOS offers standard products and customer specific semiconductor solutions. The development has already started and is intensively worked on.

Today, BLDC/PMS motors are already used in pumps or radiator fans. Because of their robustness they are gaining importance in automatic transmission, electrical gearing and braking systems.

Jointly with the family of ripple-counter ICs for sensor less control of the position of DC motors, ELMOS is offering its customers specially tailored and cost saving solutions, for all common automotive motor types.
